Living conditions and social services in Gdynia
The authors took a closer look at the living conditions in Gdynia – a city which every year holds leading positions among the best cities to live in Poland. Their assumption was that social services have become the sphere of local government that most strongly influence living conditions of the general population. They did not stop at analyzing the Local Data Bank indicators, but also used less common sources of knowledge about education, culture, health, housing and social care policies in the city. These topics have been somewhat in the shadow of hard infrastructure in recent years, and this work is expected to draw attention to them again. The book is addressed not only to the Gdynia institutions, but also to other local governments in Poland, where public services are still too often the domain of statutory routine, not conscious creation of local, evidence-based development.
It’s worth mentioning that the materials presented in te book were used during the proces of preparation of the City of Gdynia Development Strategy 2030.
