An important part of academic work is research implementation and cooperation with external institutions.

Dr Joanna Stępień from the Department of Social and Economic Geography at the University of Gdańsk, commissioned by the Urban Projects Consortium and the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, carried out a project on supporting the Ukrainian public administration in implementing the State Strategy for Regional Development 2021-2027 in the area of urban development and revitalisation.

The task was to prepare programmes for the comprehensive redevelopment of Ukraine from the effects of war damage, in selected oblasts and territorial communities (hromada), and Dr Joanna Stępień was responsible for the key area of health and security.

The project is co-financed under the Polish development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
