On the role of public trust in shaping positive health attitudes and behaviors as well as social resilience
Between the 19th and 24th of June, dr Joanna Stępień participated in the 19th International Medical Geography Symposium in Edinburgh. She gave a speech on the role of public trust in shaping health attitudes and behaviors in times of crisis entitled: “Vaccination and democracy: the role of public trust in enhancing the efficiency of vaccination policy and social resilience during and after the crisis.”. Dr Stepień discussed the problem of the effectiveness of the vaccination policy depending on the level of trust in public institutions, with an emphasis on the differences in health behaviors of the Western and Eastern Europe citizens.
The symposium was held for the first time after a two-year break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and was largely dedicated to social resilience to health crises, including the role of and trust in public institutions.
