Integrated Planning in the Context of Global Turbulence

On 11-15 July 2023, the 35th annual Congress of the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) took place in Łódź. It was attended by Prof. Iwona Sagan and Dr Rafał Gajewski.

Prof. Iwona Sagan was the organiser and reviewer of the thematic track entitled ‘Smart and agile planning: smart city and regions‘ and chaired the sessions within this track. Dr Rafał Gajewski, in turn, was one of the contributors to the session on ‘What (and How) Revitalise. ‘What (and How) Revitalisation of Cities and Neighbourhoods Can Contribute to Urban Sustainability Transformation‘.

The event was attended by several hundred planners, representing research and public institutions from all over the world. On the one hand, it was a great opportunity to maintain scientific contacts. On the other hand, participation in the Congress provided an opportunity to see the multiplicity of approaches related to, for example, the use of new technologies and governance solutions in urban planning, or the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities.
