EUARENAS workshop in Reggio Emilia
Between 11 and 14 of May Prof. Iwona Sagan, Dr. Maja Grabkowska and Dr. Klaudia Nowicka took part in the fourth consortium meeting of the international research project EUARENAS. This time, the project participants visited the charming Reggio Emilia – one of the four cities where pilot project activities are planned. The organizers of the meeting and the mayor Luca Vecchi welcomed us on the first day in the famous Sala del Tricolore, and in the following days we had the opportunity to get to know better the city, which is also the subject of research in the project Work Package on cases studies of innovative tools for participation and deliberation at the local level, which we coordinate.
The project workshops, traditionally devoted to work on specific issues and tasks within the project work packages, was supplemented by the meeting of the Community of Practice – a group of practitioners of participation invited to the project as supporting external experts. Gdańsk was represented by Dr. Hanna Obracht-Prondzyńska from the Department of Spatial Management of the University of Gdańsk and Przemysław Kluz from the Gdańsk Foundation for Social Innovation. On the last day of the meeting, we jointly participated in a scientific conference entitled Urban Climate Justice Day, organized by the city of Reggio Emilia and LabGov LUISS Guido Carli University. In addition, during the workshops we had the opportunity to visit several thriving neighbourhood centers, incl. the socially managed educational donkey farm Asini di Reggio Emilia, as well as learn the difficult art of making traditional Italian pasta 🙂
